Right based disaster risk management propgram (RBDRM)

The Rights-Based Disaster Risk Management (RBDRM) program was implemented from May 2008 to December 2017 in Kailali and Kanchanpur Districts, covering Bhajani, Thapapur, Khailaad, and Joshipur in Kailali and Shankarpur VDC in Kanchanpur. The program aimed to enhance community resilience and advocate for the rights of socially marginalized groups in flood-prone areas.

Key objectives of the program included:

  • Strengthening the institutional capacity of communities in the targeted areas to manage disaster risks effectively.
  • Supporting advocacy efforts to promote the rights of marginalized populations, ensuring their inclusion in disaster preparedness and response strategies.
  • Enhancing disaster-relevant networks to improve coordination and resource mobilization during emergencies.

Through capacity-building initiatives, awareness campaigns, and advocacy activities, the program empowered communities to actively participate in disaster risk management, reducing vulnerabilities and promoting sustainable, rights-based approaches to disaster resilience.
