Governance Literacy Class

The Governance Literacy Class project, implemented in Kailali District, aimed to promote good governance practices within Community Forest User Groups (CFUGs). The initiative focused on building the capacity of CFUG members, particularly in the areas of governance, transparency, accountability, and participatory decision-making. Through specialized governance literacy classes, the project provided members with the knowledge and skills needed to understand and actively engage in the governance structures of their respective forest user groups.

The project emphasized the importance of inclusive participation, ensuring that all members, especially women and marginalized groups, had a voice in decision-making processes. It also encouraged the adoption of transparent and accountable management practices, fostering greater community ownership of forest resources and strengthening the overall sustainability of the CFUGs.

By promoting governance within these groups, the project sought to create more effective, democratic, and environmentally sustainable forest management systems in Kailali District, ultimately empowering communities to manage their natural resources more responsibly and equitably.
