Hygiene and behavior change coalition (HBCC)

The Hygiene and Behaviour Change Coalition (HBCC) project was implemented in Kailali District, specifically in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolis, to address hygiene-related risks, including those associated with COVID-19. The project focused on promoting healthier hygiene practices within the community to reduce the spread of infectious diseases and improve overall public health.

Key Objectives:

  1. Promoting Hygienic Behaviors:

    • Raising awareness about the importance of handwashing, personal hygiene, and environmental sanitation.
    • Conducting behavior change campaigns to encourage sustained adoption of improved hygiene practices at the household and community levels.
  2. Reducing COVID-19 Risks:

    • Educating the community about preventive measures such as proper mask usage, social distancing, and respiratory hygiene to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
    • Distributing hygiene kits, including soap, sanitizers, and masks, to vulnerable populations.
  3. Building Community Resilience:

    • Collaborating with local stakeholders to integrate hygiene education into broader health and development initiatives.
    • Strengthening community ownership and participation in maintaining hygienic environments.

By fostering behavior change and equipping the community with essential hygiene knowledge and resources, the HBCC project aimed to create a lasting impact on public health. The initiative not only reduced the immediate risks of COVID-19 but also contributed to the long-term goal of preventing hygiene-related illnesses in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolis.
