Building Preparedness of vulnerable communities in Nepal through inclusive Disaster Resilience initiatives project (IDR II)

The Inclusive Disaster Resilience Initiatives Project (IDR II) was implemented in Kailali District, Nepal, covering Gauriganga and Godawari municipalities and Dhangadhi Sub-metropolis. This project aimed to enhance disaster preparedness among vulnerable communities, with a particular focus on empowering older people to actively participate in disaster-related policies and plans.

By strengthening the capabilities of older adults, the project ensured their voices and unique needs were included in disaster risk reduction strategies. Through inclusive planning, capacity-building workshops, and community-driven initiatives, IDR II fostered resilience at the local level. The program also prioritized collaboration with local government and stakeholders to create sustainable and age-sensitive disaster preparedness systems, contributing to safer and more resilient communities in Nepal.
