Strengthening the role of civil society and women in Democracy and Governance (SAMARPAN)
The Strengthening the Role of Civil Society and Women in Democracy and Governance (SAMARPAN) project, completed in Kailali District, aimed to enhance governance at the local level by fostering greater participation of women and strengthening the capacity of civil society groups. The initiative focused on empowering women, enabling them to actively engage in decision-making processes and contribute to democratic governance.
Through targeted capacity-building activities, the project equipped selected civil society organizations (CSOs) with enhanced advocacy skills, enabling them to effectively influence policy and decision-making at the local level. Additionally, the project provided platforms for women to develop leadership skills, raise their voices, and participate in governance structures, ensuring their perspectives were represented in local affairs.
By promoting gender-inclusive governance and building the advocacy capacity of CSOs, SAMARPAN contributed to more transparent, accountable, and participatory governance in the region. The project ultimately aimed to create a more inclusive and equitable political environment where women and civil society could play a central role in shaping the future of Kailali District.
