Strengtehning approaches for mazmizing maternal, neonatal and reproductive health (SAMMAN)

The SAMMAN program was implemented in Kailali District to enhance maternal and neonatal health while reducing maternal and child morbidity and mortality. This initiative focused on addressing key health challenges faced by women and newborns through improved healthcare services, community engagement, and capacity building.

Key components of the program included:

  • Maternal Health: Ensuring access to quality antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care services to reduce pregnancy-related complications and ensure safe childbirth.
  • Neonatal Health: Promoting essential newborn care practices, such as proper hygiene, early breastfeeding, and infection prevention, to enhance survival and health outcomes for infants.
  • Reproductive Health: Raising awareness about family planning, safe motherhood, and the prevention of reproductive health issues.
  • Capacity Building: Training healthcare providers and equipping health facilities with the necessary resources and skills to deliver quality maternal and neonatal care.
  • Community Mobilization: Engaging local communities to promote healthy practices, early healthcare-seeking behavior, and utilization of available maternal and child health services.

By strengthening healthcare systems and empowering communities, the SAMMAN program contributed to improving the overall health and well-being of mothers and newborns in Kailali District.
