Strengthened Action for Governance in Utilization of Natural Resources Program (SAGUN

The Strengthened Action for Governance in Utilization of Natural Resources (SAGUN) project, implemented in Kailali District across Geta, Shreepur, Malakheti, Godawari VDCs, and Dhangadhi Municipality, aimed to promote good governance within resource-based organizations, particularly Community Forest User Groups (CFUGs).

The project focused on enhancing the capacity of CFUGs to manage natural resources sustainably and equitably. It emphasized governance principles such as transparency, accountability, and inclusive decision-making, ensuring the active participation of all members, including women, marginalized groups, and other disadvantaged communities.

Through training, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives, SAGUN strengthened the organizational and leadership skills of CFUG members, enabling them to adopt democratic processes in resource management. The project also facilitated the development of mechanisms to ensure fair benefit-sharing, sustainable forest management, and conflict resolution within resource-based organizations.
